As a part of International Women’s Day 2022, Women in Engineering Affinity Group of
IEEE SB CEA organized a webinar on the topic “Role of Women in Science
Technology & Innovation: Connect. Inspire. Engage ”. The session was handled by
Dr. Anupama Thakur (Postdoctoral Researcher, Indiana University-Purdue University
Indianapolis, USA, Early Career Research Fellow, Indian Institute of Technology,
Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India)

A webinar on the topic “Role of Women in Science Technology & Innovation: Connect.
Inspire. Engage” was organized by WiE AG of IEEE SB CEA as a part of International
Women’s Day celebrations on 8th March 2022. The session started with the welcome
address by Ms. Gopika Nair J (Secretary, WiE AG, IEEE SB CEA). Later the session
was carried out by Dr. Anupma Thakur. Important topics emphasized in the session
were: The Need for a Career in STEM, Narrowing Knowledge Gap : Gender Equality, Modern Energy Context : Women in Science Technology & Innovation, Sustainable Future :
Opportunities for Women, Role of Women : Across the Energy Chain, Science
Promotion & Communication.
She also spoke about the topic Celebrating Women in the Energy Sector and briefed
about various scholarships and awards for women. Towards the end of the session
there was a Q & A session where students raised relevant questions.
