The first session of BASIX, a 6-session basic skill development series organized by IEEE PES SBC CEA, Basics of Documentation was conducted online on 19th February 2022. The target behind the event was in imparting the knowledge of good documentation to the participants.
The speaker of the webinar was Ms. Sherin Cherian, MDC IEEE PES YP Kerala. The event
was held online through Google Meet and saw the participation of 22 students from different colleges and universities.

Mr. Sujit Kumar, Chair of IEEE SB CEA welcomed the speaker. After introducing herself, Ms. Sherin Cherian gave an introduction about documentation and talked about traits that define a good report. She then talked about content writing for events, posters, and conferences. She explained what must be done for each case. Report writing was talked about next. She explained the details and structure of a good report to the participants. She also explained what needs to be kept in mind while applying for IEEE awards and proposals. And lastly, she talked about the roles and responsibilities of an IEEE SB secretary.
At the end of the webinar the participants actively participated in the Q&A session and the
speaker answered all the questions that were asked regarding documentation. The session got positive feedback from the students who attended the session. The event was successful in helping to achieve the goal of ‘BASIX’ – to develop the basic skills required in the professional environment. This event was especially helpful for IEEE Volunteers as it elevated their professional writing skills, which is very important in their voluntary endeavor.
The session ended with Ms. Parvathi, secretary of IEEE PES SBC CEA giving the vote of
